PhD Islamic Studies is a 3-8 years degree program envisioned primarily for the students who desire an intensive introduction to the primary Islamic sources to elaborate solutions for the Muslim world’s contemporary issues and challenges. The program mainly focuses on ‘Islamic Studies, with special emphasis on various dimensions of the Quran, Hadith, Fiqh, and Sīrah. It also aims at providing the growing demand for internationally-oriented programs that offer education in Islamic Studies.
Objectives of the Program:
- To produce competent scholars who have indepth knowledge of the basic sources of Islamic thought (the Quran and Sunnah).
- To develop a clear and dynamic vision of life among the students in order to contribute to the culture of Islamic knowledge, research, and innovation.
- To train the students on the modern methods and techniques of Da’wah.
- To acquaint the students with the ideologies and philosophies of the contemporary world.
- To enable the scholars to analyze social issues and challenges in the light of Islamic sources to provide solutions and a way forward for the welfare of humanity.
- To prepare skilled scholars of Islamic Studies to perform duties in legislation, research, management, teaching, and modern business modes.
- To prepare Muslim scholars and thinkers to be responsible citizens in the country and abroad.
- To promote tolerance, brotherhood, unity among the Muslim Ummah, moderation, and love with Islamic ethics and values through academic activities and Islamic literature.
Criteria:
- MS/MPhil degree (18 years of schooling) in Islamic Studies or a related field with a minimum 3.00/4.00 CGPA (or 1st Division) from an HEC-recognized university.
- NTS GAT Subject, ETC HAT & GRE or University Entry Test (with a minimum 70% cumulative score).
