The Master of Philosophy (MPhil) program in Library and Information Science (LIS) is an advanced academic program designed for students who seek to deepen their understanding of the theory, research, and practice of information management in a rapidly evolving digital age.
Building upon foundational knowledge acquired at the undergraduate level, the MPhil program offers students the opportunity to engage in rigorous scholarly inquiry, critical analysis, and advanced research in the field of LIS. The MPhil program is tailored to meet the needs of aspiring scholars, researchers, educators, and practitioners who wish to make meaningful contributions to the advancement of the field through original research, critical inquiry, and innovative practice.

Through a combination of coursework, seminars, independent study, and research projects, students delve into both foundational and cutting-edge issues shaping the field of LIS.One of the distinguishing features of the MPhil program is its emphasis on research excellence and scholarly inquiry.<\/p>

Objective:<\/h6>
  • To provide students with an advanced understanding of the theoretical foundations, research methodologies, and emerging trends in library and information science, enabling them to engage critically with scholarly literature and contribute to the advancement of the field.<\/li>
  • <\/i>To develop advanced research skills, including the ability to formulate research questions, design research methodologies, collect and analyze data, and interpret research findings, culminating in the completion of a thesis or dissertation that contributes new knowledge to the field.<\/li>
  • <\/i>To specialize in specific areas of interest within library and information science, such as information organization, digital libraries, archival studies, metadata management, knowledge management, or information policy, fostering depth of knowledge and expertise.<\/li>
  • <\/i>To develop critical thinking skills and analytical abilities necessary for evaluating complex issues, synthesizing diverse perspectives, and advancing innovative solutions to theoretical and practical challenges in library and information science.<\/li>
  • <\/i>To enhance professional skills and competencies, including communication, presentation, writing, and project management skills, preparing them for careers in academia, research institutions, libraries, archives, museums, government agencies, and private sector organizations.<\/li>
  • <\/i>To promote scholarly engagement and active participation in academic and professional communities, encouraging students to present their research at conferences, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and contribute to ongoing discussions and debates within the field.<\/li><\/ul>

    Criteria:<\/strong><\/p>

    • 16-year relevant Master\u2019s or 4-year BS degree (minimum second division or 2.0\/4.0 CGPA) from an HEC-recognized institution.<\/li>
    • NTS GAT General or University Entry Test (with a minimum 60% cumulative score).<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
